Indispensable Electroplating in India

Electroplating is a process that is used to deposit one metal over the other. It forms a consistent coating over the base metal. It is generally done to prevent corrosion, abrasion, lubrication and to enhance the look. When it is added to boost the thickness and the size and shape, it is called as electroforming.

The plate to be coated is connected as the cathode. The anode is made as the impure or the pure metal source. The two electrodes are kept dipped in the salt solution of the metal. It is called the electrolyte of the solution. When the battery is turned on, the electric discharge is passed through the anode. The metal dissociates into the respective metal ions in solution. These metal ions are then deposited onto the cathode. This is the mechanism of electroplating.

The rate of dissociation is directly proportional to the deposition. Both are directly linked to the rate of flow of charges i.e., Current. Electroplating finds its application in the coating of pennies and coins. The plating has a high level of purity. Electroplating in India is done with all types of metals like zinc, silver, copper to metals like chromium.
